Broncos No. 4 In Final College Football Polls

BroncoSports: Broncos No. 4 In Final College Football Polls

BOISE, Idaho – Boise State University completed its undefeated (14-0) season on Monday (Jan. 4) with a 17-10 win over TCU at the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl, and on Thursday (Jan. 7) posted the highest ranking in school history at No. 4 in the final USA Today Coaches' and Associated Press media polls.

The Broncos finished fourth in the coaches poll with 1,312 points.  Alabama was a unanimous No. 1 receiving all 58 first place votes for 1,450 points.  Texas was second with 1,360 points and Florida third with 1,323 points.  Ohio State rounded out the top five with 1,190 points.

In the AP poll, the top five spots were the same as the coaches' poll.  Alabama was again a unanimous No. 1 with all 60 first place votes and 1,500 points.  Texas was second with 1,399 points followed by Florida with 1,370, Boise State with 1,366 and Ohio State with 1,224.

During the 2009 regular season Boise State was fifth for four different weeks in the coaches' poll, and fifth three different weeks in the media poll.

This is also the highest ranking for Boise State in a final season poll.  Following its 43-42 overtime win over Oklahoma at the 2007 Tostitos Fiesta Bowl, the Broncos were ranked fifth in the Associated Press media poll, and sixth in the coaches’ poll.
