The Stig's identity is revealed

Some say that his ears aren't exactly where you'd expect them to be.  Others say that in order to unlock him, you have to run your finger down his face.  Still others say that he only knows two facts about ducks, and both of them are wrong.

Now, after years of secrecy and worldwide speculation, BBC now says that Top Gear's "tame racing driver" The Stig...

... is Michael Schumacher.

According to  this video from BBC, released last night, Michael Schumacher, the seven-time Formula 1 racing championship driver, is the face behind the 'Stig' persona, who tests performance cars on Top Gear's track to see which is the fastest and also participates in other segments on Top Gear, such as finding the fastest method of transport to cross London during rush hour.

Top Gear enthusiasts around the world have been speculating for years as to The Stig's identity, since, aside from the many 'some-say' Stig-isms that the three Top Gear hosts came up with at the last minute before his driving footage was aired, no details were ever divulged about his career or personal life.

Although some say that (it's a hard phrase to let go!) Top Gear will never be the same now that The Stig's identity has been revealed, let's not forget that the previous Stig was revealed to be Perry McCarthy, also a Formula 1 driver. That Stig, who wore a black suit as opposed to the current Stig's white suit, mysteriously 'died'.

So, it's only a matter of time before some calamity befalls this Stig, and a new one, whose identity will be just as mysterious, will regenerate.

At least, that's what some say.
