09.18.2008 Images of the 'heart' (4G63) of Evil Eagle being loaded on the back of a truck. It's on a journey to an enthusiastic new owner.. in many ways a bitter sweet parting. As many of you know, since the Seattle BOTI race, which resulted in a calamity of broken parts, Jake has been parting out his car.. selling pieces of it to various individuals across the country.
The engine was one of the last pieces to go and while he did make enough $$ to buy the Evo VIII he now has, it hasn't been easy to see all the pieces leave, one by one.. Jake will hang onto the car body for now. Kinda crazy to think.. there will be parts of his car living a new existence in many different cars and in many parts of the country, from the West Coast to the East Coast. Moving on..
Projects
09.16.2008 -Jake's new ride..
2003 Evo VIII with 18" rims, HKS 280 cams, complete intercooler piping, 3" turbo back. His plan is to keep it as a daily driver that he can race, similar to what he originally did with his Eagle Talon, prior to converting it into a 'full on' drag car. Back then he was turning out mid 9's on the track then driving it back home. cRaZy!

09.9.2008 What we're working on..
This little beauty is here from Oregon, transported by the owner & his wife. It will be undergoing an engine swap and a few other upgrades. MKIII, SPO 2771, Indigo Blue/Titanium will officially become a Gear 6 Performance MKIII within the next couple of weeks. WhoooHooo!
08.31.2008 Personal Best: 8.66 @ 165.46 mph - the good pass and then..
It was a contradiction of results.. Jake ran a personal best of 8.66@165 mph in his qualifying round. In the first round of eliminations (a bi-run, no less) he lost the transfer case, which in turn took out the drive shaft, half of the transmission, and caved in the gas tank! He was very lucky.. the gas spill could have ignited by the sparks under the car from all the carnage. A sobering thought.. sigh.
Well guys, I wouldn't doubt at this point the car is almost a total loss. I just got done getting up underneath the car to inspect further damages and its 10x's worse than I originally thought it was, I have 3 large holes in the floor from the front all the way to the back from when the t-case flew out, one of the holes is at least a foot long and 6" wide, it just pealed the floor completely up. The other 2 holes in the floor are about 6" long/wide. Rear drive shaft looks like somebody put it over their knee and bent it. Gas tank is completely folded in the middle.
Time to move on with another project, so I am partially parting out my car. So here it goes, as much as it breaks my heart to do this, I gotta do something if I wanna continue racing. Anyway the recap of this carnage is half the trans is gone, the t-case is completely gone, the rear driveshaft piece is bent like you wouldn't believe, and the fuel tank looks like someone rear ended it. Complete destruction, but in the end.. seeing the look on the faces of my girl friend, my sister and my mother I've decided to park the car. --Jake
Stay tuned.. we'll reveal what his new 'project is' when all decisions have been made.
Races
08.21.2008 We'll be traveling to Seattle this week-end for Round 7 of BOTI events.. Jake is number three in the BOTI Points Standings despite the broken parts carnage, these past couple of races. LOL!
